Unusual Civil War canteen with Confederate billed glued to it

This is a very unique piece being offered from the large canteen collection I acquired. It is a regulation Union "Bullseye" canteen and glued to the front of it is an 1862 Confederate $20.00 bill. Also, you can see a small piece of a $10.00 bill under it.

There may be more, but this is only the third example I came across in the past 30+ years. I have one in my collection which came out of the Gettysburg Danner Museum many years ago. It is pictured in my book "Civil War Canteens - Third Edition (see pictures).

The one being offered here was probably done by a veteran as a keepsake, well over 100 years ago. As expected, the bill is in poor condition but most of it is intact and very visible for a display piece. This is an opportunity to add a rare and unusual canteen to your collection - I doubt you will come across another.
