Being offered is a British Half-Penny dated 1739. It is made of copper and measures 24mm. The front has the Laureate bust facing left and printed “GEORGIVS • - II • REX •” and the reverse is “BRITANNIA 1739”.
The ruler at this time would have been King George II. These coins would have been brought over by the British and used as currency in the Colonial states. This one is in nice condition with a very clear date. It comes in the acrylic case pictured. It would fit in nicely with any Revolutionary War collection.
Revolutionary War artifacts have always been difficult to find, and I am fortunate to have quite a few pieces in stock. With the upcoming of the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding next year, there will be a revitalized interest. Just about all Revolutionary War relics and artifacts will be in demand, which will only add to their scarcity and price. I am already seeing a substantial increase in purchases.
