This is another nice piece being offered, it Being offered are the remains of two Civil War soldier’s pocket knives. It is one side of the handle and is made of brass measuring 3 ½” and the other one is similar. They were recovered at a Union camp site at Gettysburg along the Emmitsburg Road, just south of town. The Emmitsburg Road runs through the area of Pickett's Charge.
Just about every soldier carried a pocket knife and I have examples in two of my books “Battle of Gettysburg – The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs” and “The Civil War Soldier – His Personal Items”. They come in the glass top display case pictured. Almost impossible to find an original Gettysburg piece at this price.
