RARE - Revolutionary War Grapeshot ball recovered at Bunker Hill, MA (ON HOLD,MR)

Out of Stock

$145.00

Product Description

This is another nice early piece coming out of an old Revolutionary War collection  Being offered is a Revolutionary War iron grapeshot ball. It has a diameter of 1 ½” (not counting the two studs) and weighs 8-ounces with an old faint marking “B H”, for Bunker Hill.

On June 13, 1775, the leaders of the colonial forces besieging Boston learned that the British were planning to send troops out from the city to fortify the unoccupied hills surrounding the city, which would give them control of Boston Harbor. In response, 1,200 colonial troops under the command of William Prescott stealthily occupied Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill. They constructed a strong redoubt on Breed's Hill overnight, as well as smaller fortified lines across the Charlestown Peninsula.

With the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding this year, interest in Revolutionary War relics is expected to significantly increase. This renewed enthusiasm will drive demand for virtually all Revolutionary War artifacts, further contributing to their scarcity and rising prices.

Already, I am witnessing a notable uptick in purchases of these items, which reflects the growing anticipation for the anniversary and the heightened value of Revolutionary War memorabilia.
