This is another nice item being offered, it is a Civil War period CDV photograph of General Ulysses S. Grant. It is the typical size of 2 ½” x 4” and the back is void of any backmark. He is wearing his three-star Generals uniform. At the bottom of the card is “This photograph is from an original pen drawing by G.W. Parker, and is the result of 163 days labor”.
This is the only view of this image that I was able to locate. I believe it is a memorial card having Grant within a floral wreath and two angels above him. There is more going on in this image, but I am unable to make it out.
As Commanding General of the United States Army, Grant worked closely with President Abraham Lincoln to lead the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy in the Civil War. After the war, Grant was elected the 18th President of the United States.
This is a rare image of Grant, and the card has no creases or bends, and has not been trimmed. An important piece for any Civil War collection.
