This is another great piece being offered, it is a 48-star GAR stick flag, circa 1912. It is printed in the traditional old style on coarse cotton gauze measuring 18 X 10 1/2 inches with the original 30-inch stick. This was recovered from a defunct GAR Civil War veteran hall some years ago.
These flags were popular with veterans at parades and reunions. This flag has the early printed construction on coarse gauze, typical of flags from the 1860s through the early 1900s. After about 1913 these stick memorial and parade flags can be expected to be printed on cotton of a much tighter weave.
This is a nice all original decoration piece without spending a ton of money. It is in excellent condition with bright colors. Actually, the stick itself could be removed and have the flag framed.
