Original Civil War Eagle Sword Belt Plate (SOLD)

This is another great piece being offered, it is a non-dug Civil War Eagle Sword Belt Plate. This is the style that was worn on the sword belt of many Civil War soldiers and officers (see period photo). It has the beautiful spread wing pattern eagle in the center of the buckle. Around the border of the buckle, it has the ray style design.

The eagle has the ribbon coming from her beak that reads the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". This is the pattern that has the integral cast wreath around the eagle. On the back of the buckle, it has the original keeper hook intact. Take note that the back of the buckle it has the correct Civil War slim width tongue. The buckle is accompanied by the original hand fitted brass keeper, often missing. It comes in the glass top display case pictured.
