Original and Complete Civil War Paper-wrapped .58 caliber cartridge (SOLD)

This is another great piece being offered, it is a complete paper cartridge for the Civil War .58 caliber Springfield or contract rifle. It is nice and complete and even has the original string that ties the paper together on one end.

This is the classic style that would have been carried by the Civil War soldier. These .58 caliber bullets and muskets were the most widely used weapon of the American Civil War. There is a very slight separation of the paper on one side, but this has no effect on the cartridge itself. It appears that this one came right out of a soldier's cartridge box.

Original paper cartridges in this condition are becoming very difficult to find. It comes in the glass top display case pictured.
