Musket Butt Plate, could be Rev War or Civil War, dug Charleston Harbor, SC

This is another interesting item being offered, it is an iron musket butt plate. Part of it is bent with the original screw still present and it is covered with coral from being in the water. It was recovered in the water at Charleston Harbor, SC.

Charleston Harbor saw military action in both the Revolutionary War and during the Civil War. The style is typical of both wars, so it is difficult to distinguish what war or what kind of musket. Like I said, a very interesting piece.
