Infantry Horn Insignia and two Eagle buttons from Chickamauga Battlefield (SOLD)

Out of Stock

$45.00

Product Description

This is another nice grouping being offered, there is an excavated soldier’s Infantry Horn Insignia and two general service Union eagle buttons. They were recovered years ago from the Chickamauga Battlefield.

The Battle of Chickamauga was fought on September 18–20, 1863, and marked the end of a Union offensive, the Chickamauga Campaign, in southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia. It was the first major battle of the war fought in Georgia, the most significant Union defeat in the Western Theater, and involved the second-highest number of casualties after the Battle of Gettysburg.

Although the horn is only partial, it still is a decent dug representation. The Eagle buttons are in nice condition and still have stand-up shanks. There is a maker mark on one, but I can’t make it out. This is a great little grouping at a low price. They come in the glass top display case pictured.
