GETTYSBURG GAR POST BEAN SOUP TICKET, 1894

This cardboard ticket, measuring approximately 3.75 x 1.50 inches, belonged to the Corporal Skelly Post #9 of the G.A.R. in Gettysburg. On the face of the ticket, in black lettering, it reads: “POST 9 G.A.R. BEAN SOUP & ENTERTAINMENT MARCH 26, ’94 [1894] ADMIT ONE”. The reverse side is blank.

The local GAR Post’s hall still stands on East Middle St. in Gettysburg and is currently used by the Sons of Union Veterans. The hall also houses a museum (see pictures). These tickets provide a fascinating glimpse into the social events and camaraderie within the G.A.R. during that period. (Free shipping)
