Being offered are two fired high-impact bullets. They are both Minie balls and probably .58 caliber. The digger recovered them years ago from the area of the famous Dunker Church on the Antietam Battlefield, across from where the National Park Service Visitor Center stands today (see pictures).
During the battle of Antietam, the church was the focal point of a number of Union attacks against the Confederate left flank. Most after action reports by commanders of both sides, including Union General Hooker and Confederate Stonewall Jackson, make references to the church. These bullets are just as found, only rinsed off with water.
