Recently, I was able to acquire a lifetime collection of early Gettysburg souvenirs. I myself have always had a fondness for these pieces and have allocated a good portion of my book “Battle of Gettysburg – The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs” to their history (see pictures). There are numerous items in the collection, and I will be listing them as quick as I can.
This one is a cream-color pitcher featuring the famous Jennie Wade House. It is 4 ½” tall and 4” wide. Mary Virginia Wade (May 21,1843 – July 3, 1863), also known as Jennie Wade was a resident of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania during the Battle of Gettysburg. At the age of 20, she was the only direct civilian casualty of the battle, when she was killed by a stray bullet on July 3, 1863.The pitcher is in very nice condition.
