Confederate maker-marked South Carolina Coat Button

This is another nice piece being offered, it is an excavated state seal uniform coat button for the state of South Carolina. It has the palmetto tree on the face of the button with the motto around the side. The motto reads "Animis Opibusque Parati" which translates as "Prepared in mind and Resources."

The backmark is "HORSTMANN & ALLIEN", circa 1860. You can see why the button was lost by the shank slightly pulled up. The face has a very slight push which is not too noticeable. Overall, a nice Confederate button that was lost by a soldier.
