Civil War US buckle on the original leather belt

This is another nice piece being offered, it is an original Civil War U.S. Belt Plate with the original belt. The belt is the early war issue and measures 40” long. The US buckle is the arrow hook version with all three of the original hooks intact on the reverse of the plate along with superb lead. It is a little hard to see but scratched into the lead is what appears to be “J A E P…”. ?

When you look at the belt and buckle you can tell that it was used extensively but taken care of. The hide belt is supple and free from cracks and damage.  This is a good-looking U.S. soldier's belt buckle on the original leather belt. It is the classic style that was worn by the regular fighting men of the Civil War.
