Civil War Toy Spinning Top

This is another interesting piece being offered, it is a Spinning Top, circa 1850s. The handle is 8” long and the spinning top is 2 ½” x 2”. The top is a wooden cone mounted on a turned wooden handle with a rope pull string wound around the juncture.

There is a similar style top which is in the American Civil War Museum (formerly The Museum of the Confederacy) see pictures. That one belonged to Richard Winn of Marietta, Georgia and was used by his two sons during the Civil War. This is a nice personal item.
