Civil War soldier’s large brass spoon, dug Fredericksburg VA area

This is another nice piece being offered, it is a soldier’s large brass spoon. It is one of several which were dug by a local resident of the Fredericksburg, Virginia area. It measures 4 ½” x 1 ¾”. This one, as well as the others, are missing the handles. This was a common practice with soldiers going back to the Revolutionary War to both lessen the weight and being able to take up little space. It remains in nice solid condition and would go well with a display of a soldier’s personal effects.
