Civil War soldier's harmonica reed, dug Little Round Top, Gettysburg (SOLD)

Out of Stock

$40.00

Product Description

This is another nice piece being offered, it is the brass reed section from a Civil War soldier’s harmonica. It was recovered by Mike Conklin in the rear of Little Round Top, Gettysburg.

The most popular instrument with Civil War soldiers was the harmonica. It was small enough to carry in their pocket or haversack and with a little practice, they were able to learn the most common tunes of the day. This unique piece, along with some other soldier artifacts, was recovered during some excavation in the town of Gettysburg. The glass top display case is included.

There was brutal fighting on July 2, 1863 on Little Round Top. Many casualties were moved to the rear of Little Round Top and was set up as a hospital site. In my book “Battle of Gettysburg – The Relics, Artifacts & Souvenirs” and “The Civil War Soldier – His Personal Items”, I go into more detail about Gettysburg and soldier’s musical instruments.
