Civil War Militia or Confederate Tin Drum Canteen

This is another nice canteen being offered, it is a tin early Militia or Confederate canteen. It has a diameter of 6” and is 1 ¾” wide. It has a hand-carved wood stopper and retains two of the three sling holders. It is rust free and has a couple of small pushes from use.

In “Civil War Canteens”, by Sylvia & O’Donnell there are examples of this canteen (see pictures). I also have similar examples of this canteen in my book “The Civil War Canteen – Third Edition”. This would go great in just about any Civil War collection.
