This is another nice item being offered, it is a pair of Revolutionary War Pincers. They are hand-forged and measure 6 1/4" long by 1 1/2” wide. These pincers were issued by the British during the war, having the “broad arrow” marking.
Pincers were a very important tool to both sides during the Revolution. They were used by the artillery to work on shells and opening crates. The Cavalry also used them to work on horses with the shoeing.
Revolutionary War items with the broad arrow are always sought out by collectors. The British used the broad arrow on much of their equipment and artillery. This pair is in very nice condition and easily opens and closes. There is an identical example in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Collection (see pictures).
