50-cent Civil War note from the City of Newark, New Jersey, dated September 1862

$85.00

Product Description

This is a .50-cent note from the City of Newark, New Jersey issued during the Civil War on September 01, 1862. This change note has  orange edges, and it is hand-numbered #25,001 and signed by the Mayor of Newark and the City Clerk.

I estimate the grade at choice “good” with a nice appearance. The note states that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Newark, NJ will pay to bearer one year after date fifty cents for value received at the Treasurer's office. City Loan Certificate. The back of the note is blank. This is a very nice Civil War note and comes in the acrylic sleeve. Anything from the state of New Jersey during the Civil War has always been desirable.
